Last updated: May 12, 2026
SEE Result 2082 was published on May 11, 2026 (Baishakh 28, 2083). The overall pass percentage of SEE 2082 is 65.98 percent. A total of 146,507 students received NG in SEE 2082.
If you are not satisfied with your marks, you can apply for retotaling or rechecking through the official NEB portal. Both are done online. You do not need to visit NEB in person.
This guide explains what retotaling and rechecking mean, the exact fees, how to apply step by step, what happens after, and what your options are if your marks do not change.
After checking your result, use our SEE GPA calculator to understand your grades and which stream you qualify for.
What Is Retotaling in SEE?
Retotaling means NEB adds up your marks again to check if there was a calculation error in your answer sheet.
The examiner who checked your paper may have correctly evaluated each answer but made an addition mistake at the end. Retotaling catches this. It does not re-evaluate your answers. It only checks the totaling of marks already given.
Retotaling is the first step. You must apply for retotaling before you can apply for rechecking. You cannot go directly to rechecking without doing retotaling first.
What Is Rechecking in SEE?
Rechecking means a different examiner reviews your entire answer sheet from scratch. Every answer is evaluated again. Marks may increase, stay the same, or in rare cases decrease.
Rechecking is the process where NEB re-checks the entire answer sheet, not just the totaling. The examiner carefully re-evaluates whether each answer was checked correctly and marks were awarded properly.
Rechecking is the deeper review. It is done only after retotaling is completed and you are still not satisfied with your result.
What Is the Difference Between Retotaling and Rechecking?
Retotaling only checks if marks were added correctly. It does not change how your answers were evaluated. It is faster and cheaper.
Rechecking reviews your entire answer sheet again. A different examiner looks at every answer and re-marks it. It is more thorough and more expensive.
The process is sequential. Retotaling comes first. If your marks do not change after retotaling and you still feel your result is wrong, then you apply for rechecking. You cannot skip retotaling and go directly to rechecking.
Who Can Apply for SEE Retotaling and Rechecking?
Any SEE 2082 student who is not satisfied with their marks can apply for retotaling. Students who appeared in the regular or grade increment examination and are dissatisfied with their obtained grades can apply for retotaling.
There is no minimum or maximum grade requirement to apply. Whether you got NG, D grade, or even a higher grade but feel you deserved more, you can apply for any subject you want to check.
For rechecking, only students who already applied for retotaling and received the retotaling result can apply. You can apply for rechecking only after the retotaling result is published.
How to Apply for SEE Retotaling Online Step by Step
The entire retotaling application process is done online. You do not need to visit NEB or your school for retotaling.
Visit exam.neb.gov.np/see and go to the Student Payment section or visit see.gov.np and click on Apply for Retotal for SEE 2082. Enter your symbol number and date of birth. Do not include the alphabet at the end of your symbol number when entering. Select the subjects for which you want retotaling. Make the payment through eSewa, Khalti, IME Pay, or Connect IPS. A confirmation message will be received upon successful submission.
Save your confirmation message after payment. This is your proof of application. Check the official websites after a few weeks for the retotaling result.
How to Apply for SEE Rechecking
Rechecking is applied after the retotaling result comes out and you are still not satisfied.
Applications must be submitted within 15 days of the retotaling result announcement. A fee of NPR 2,000 per subject must be deposited in Revenue Account Number 14223. The application must be submitted in the prescribed format along with the required documents. Students must also sign a declaration form.
Unlike retotaling which is fully online, rechecking requires you to submit a physical application form with the fee receipt and a signed declaration. The application form can be downloaded from see.gov.np or exam.neb.gov.np/see.
Submit your completed form to the Rechecking Section of NEB in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur or through your school depending on the official instructions published with the retotaling result.
Fees for SEE Retotaling and Rechecking 2082
Retotaling fee is NPR 500 per subject. Payment is done online through digital wallets including eSewa, Khalti, IME Pay, and Connect IPS. No bank visit needed.
The fee for rechecking is NPR 2,000 per subject and is non-refundable.
This means if you apply for rechecking and your marks do not change, you do not get your money back. Think carefully before applying for rechecking. It is worth doing if you genuinely believe your answers were evaluated incorrectly. It is not worth doing if you just want a second chance or if you feel you did not perform well in the exam.
What Is the Deadline to Apply for SEE Retotaling 2082?
NEB has not yet announced the official retotaling application deadline for SEE 2082 as of May 12, 2026. The result was published today.
Based on past years, the retotaling application window is typically open for about 7 to 10 days after the result is published. For SEE 2081, the retotaling deadline was Ashadh 23, 2082 at 5 PM. Since SEE 2081 result came in June 2025, the deadline was about 10 days after publication.
For SEE 2082, the retotaling application is expected to open within a few days of today’s result and close within 7 to 10 days. NEB will publish the official notice on neb.gov.np and see.gov.np very soon. Check those websites daily and act quickly. Deadlines are strict and no extensions are given.
This page will be updated as soon as NEB announces the official retotaling application deadline for SEE 2082.
How Long Does Retotaling and Rechecking Take?
Retotaling results are typically published within 3 to 4 weeks after the application deadline closes. NEB publishes retotaling results in lots. First lot, second lot, sometimes a third lot. Results appear on neb.gov.np as downloadable PDF files where you can search your symbol number.
Rechecking takes longer. Results are updated within 30 to 45 days after the rechecking application deadline.
Both processes take several weeks so do not wait for the outcome before making your Plus 2 plan. Many colleges have conditional admission processes for students waiting for retotaling or rechecking results. Talk to your preferred college about this.
What Happens After Retotaling and Rechecking?
If retotaling finds an addition error, your marks will be corrected and your marksheet will be updated. A new marksheet will be issued with the corrected marks. If your grade changes as a result, that new grade stands as your official SEE grade.
If retotaling finds no error, your marks remain the same. You then have two options. Apply for rechecking within 15 days of the retotaling result. Or appear in the SEE grade increment exam if you have NG in the subject.
If your grade is not changed after rechecking, the decision is considered final and binding. There is no further review process available after rechecking.
If your marks increase enough to change your grade, NEB issues an updated marksheet. This updated marksheet is the official document and is accepted by all Plus 2 colleges in Nepal.
Can Marks Decrease After Rechecking?
Yes. Marks can increase, stay the same, or decrease after rechecking. Marks may increase, remain unchanged, or in rare cases decrease. The decision after rechecking is considered final and binding.
Decreases are rare but they do happen. Before applying for rechecking, honestly assess whether you genuinely answered the questions well. If you know you made mistakes in the exam, rechecking is unlikely to help and could potentially lower your marks.
Retotaling carries almost no risk because it only checks addition. Rechecking carries a small risk of marks decreasing because it is a full re-evaluation.
Should You Apply for Retotaling or Rechecking?
Apply for retotaling if you feel your total marks seem lower than expected even if each individual answer seemed to have been checked correctly. Calculation errors do happen and retotaling is cheap at NPR 500 and risk free.
Apply for rechecking only if you genuinely believe your answers were not evaluated correctly by the original examiner. Think carefully about whether your exam performance actually justified higher marks. If yes, rechecking is worth the NPR 2,000 fee. If you simply performed poorly in the exam, rechecking will not help.
Do not apply for either just out of hope or stress. Both processes take weeks and the deadlines for Plus 2 admission will not wait for your retotaling result in most cases.
What If You Have NG and Want to Recheck?
If you got NG in a subject, you can apply for retotaling to check if there was an addition error. Sometimes students get NG due to a marking or totaling mistake rather than genuinely low performance.
However, even if retotaling does not change your NG, you can still appear in the SEE grade increment exam. Retotaling and the grade increment exam are separate processes. Applying for one does not prevent you from applying for the other.
The grade increment exam is expected around Shrawan to Bhadra 2083 which is July to August 2026. Do not wait only for retotaling results if you have NG. Start preparing for the grade increment exam as well.
For more details on NG and the grade increment exam, you can read our guide on what happens if you fail SEE in Nepal.
Final Thoughts
SEE Result 2082 is out. Pass percentage is 65.98 percent and 146,507 students received NG. If your marks are not what you expected, retotaling is a quick, cheap, and risk free first step.
Apply for retotaling as soon as NEB opens the application window on exam.neb.gov.np/see. The window typically stays open for only 7 to 10 days. Do not delay.
If retotaling does not help, rechecking is available within 15 days of the retotaling result. If you have NG, the grade increment exam in July to August 2026 is your clearest path forward.
